About me

My name is Joseph Bailey. I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, working in Brighton and Hove and am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).

For over a decade I worked as a consultant, where I experienced the emotional challenges and pressures that come with corporate work.

I was introduced to the mental health field through volunteering for a large crisis charity, where I worked with service users who were experiencing depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.

I enjoyed this work, but was keen to develop my understanding and learn ways to help others with their mental wellbeing longer term, rather than just supporting them in their darkest moments.

This, along with experiencing the impact and change that came from my own analytic therapy, drew me to undertake a lengthy and rigorous psychotherapy training myself.

I began my professional training with the CPTA, before completing a Postgraduate Diploma and Masters with Birkbeck, University of London. Following this, I completed the ECPS training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

Both Birkbeck and ECPS trainings are accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council, which offers the highest levels of training in the UK.

I now work in private practice in Brighton & Hove, under the Ethical Code outlined by the British Psychoanalytic Council.
